A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 91 mm (3.58 inches) across with matrix, which is very large for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides with highly detailed suture lines.
The metallic iron pyrite colour and shine is beautiful. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock. This is a very high-quality specimen. it weighs 175 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
