A stunning example of an ammonite fossil of the species Psiloceras planorbis from North Somerset, UK.

The piece of limestone matrix measures 118 mm (4.65 inches) tall and contains one complete ammonite that measures 67 mm (2.65 inches) across, which is a good size for this species. The matrix is original and has been shaped for display with a flat base to allow it to stand by itself and includes some bivalve shells. The ammonite is perfectly preserved and has been prepared out of the rock to reveal the shell, which display some nice very subtle iridescence/pearlescence with different colours appearing as the angle the fossil is viewed from changes.

The fossil weighs 280 grams. These ammonites make wonderful display items and are real conversation starters.

Around 200 million years old (Hettangian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
