A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Gleviceras glevense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 72 mm (2.85 inches) across with matrix, which is large for this fossil type. The ammonite is well preserved on both sides with highly detailed suture lines and ribbing. This is an uncommon ammonite that is rarely found at this size in good condition. These large examples are especially uncommon these days. It has been sealed with a removable varnish for protection.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
