A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 68 mm (2.7 inches) across, which is large for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides with detailed suture lines and several other ammonites of the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum preserved on top of the main ammonite. This is a relatively uncommon species at this size and condition. This is a very fine example of the species. The metallic iron pyrite colour and shine is beautiful.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
