A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 94 mm (3.7 inches) across with matrix, which is very large for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides with detailed suture lines. There is also another Oxynoticeras ammonite next to the main one and a smaller Eoderoceras ammonite on one side. This is a relatively uncommon species at this size and condition. This is a very fine example of the species. The metallic iron pyrite colour and shine is beautiful.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
