A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Orthechioceras sp. from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 52 mm (2.1 inches) across, which is a good size for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved, especially on one side, which is very uncommon with this species. A great example of an uncommon species that is rarely offered at this level of quality. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
