A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Gleviceras glevense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 78 mm (3.1 inches) across with matrix, which is a good size for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides. The exposed shell has fantastic detail in the suture lines and ribs and the metallic colour and shine is beautiful. A great example of an uncommon species. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
