A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 21mm (0.82 inches) across and is very well preserved with great detail in the ribbing. It is clean on both sides and has a beautiful pyritic metallic shine. There is an unusual predation bite in the outer whorl, which would have been made by a predatory Jurassic squid-ancestor as it hunted the ammonite.
These little pyrite ammonites have long been used to create natural jewellery and look amazing in the flesh.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
