A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 100 mm (4 inches) across, which is very large for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides and has a beautiful metallic iron pyrite colour and shine. The ribbing, sutures, and some spies are well defined. These are very popular ammonites but are becoming hard to find due to lack of erosion of the right layers in the cliffs. These large examples are especially uncommon these days. A heavy and chunky example, weighing 360 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
