A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 82 mm (3.25 inches) across, which is a very good size for this fossil type. The ammonite is very well preserved, especially on one side. The suture lines are detailed on this one, as are the ribs and spine tubercles. It is a thick and chunky ammonite that feels very tactile in the hand. These are very popular ammonites and some of the most sought-after pyrite fossils in the world. It weighs 250 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
