A stunning example of a crinoid fossil of the species Pentacrinites fossilis from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The fossil measures 56 mm (2.21 inches) across and consists of a whole head of an animal, with arms and pinnules preserved with great detail. It is preserved in limestone with a thin layer of pyrite giving it a nice metallic colour and shine. Finding a complete crinoid head is rare from any location, and ones from the Jurassic Coast are some of the most sought after. As is almost always the case with these fossils, it was found in multiple pieces and has been repaired back together. These crinoids are very sought after and not easy to find these days.

Around 196 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
