A stunning example of a multi-ammonite fossil of the species Promicroceras planicosta from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The piece of limestone matrix measures 81 mm (3.17 inches) across and contains two well-preserved ammonites that measures 24 mm (0.95 of an inch) across each, and a third smaller crushed ammonite at the bottom of the rock. This is a classic "popped" stone, where the rock has been split to reveal both the positive casts of the shells and the negative impressions. The two pieces fit back together and can be displayed separately or as a single piece with a surprise inside! The ammonites are very well preserved and have been prepared out of the rock to reveal the shells. The ribs are very finely defined, and the light yellow colour is beautiful. A great example of the species and impressive in the flesh. The fossil weighs 200 grams (both pieces combined) and has a cut flat base to allow it to stand freely on its own for display.

Around 196 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
