A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The fossil measures 92 mm (3.6 inches) across with matrix, which is very large for this fossil type. The ammonite is well preserved on both sides in the centre of a pyrite matrix that is the outer whorl of the shell, with highly detailed suture lines, ribbing, and spines. These are very popular ammonites but are becoming hard to find due to lack of erosion of the right layers in the cliffs. These large examples are especially uncommon these days. It has been sealed with a removable varnish for protection. It is a chunky and heavy ammonite, weighing 305 grams.

Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
