A stunning example of an ichthyosaur tooth fossil from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Lyme Regis, Dorset UK.

The tooth still sits in the original matrix in which it was found, which measures 38 mm (1.5 inches) across, with the tooth itself measuring 13 mm (0.53 inches). The tooth is very well preserved and has been prepared within the matrix. It has great detail in its preservation and a nice dark colour. The enamel still has a sheen to it and the texture of the tooth is still preserved. These fossils were first found by pioneering Victorian fossils hunters like Mary Anning. Ichthyosaur teeth are very popular fossils from this location.

Around 198 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
