A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 31 mm (1.2 inches) across with matrix, which is a good size for this species, and is very well preserved on both sides with great detail in the ribbing. There is a second smaller ammonite preserved on top of the main one. It has a beautiful pyritic metallic shine.
Large examples of this species like this are hard to find and very sought after.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
