A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 56 mm (2.2 inches) across, which is a good size for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides with detailed suture lines. This is a relatively uncommon species at this size and condition. This is a very fine example of the species. The metallic iron pyrite colour and shine is beautiful.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
