A high-quality full-scale replica of a juvenile ichthyosaur of the species Ichthyosaurus communis found in 2017 in the Blue Lias of Lyme Regis. This specimen is unusually preserved lying in a prone (belly down) position which shows off the shape of the animal well. It is exceptionally complete and includes all four limbs (paddles), which is very hard to find on these specimens. The original fossil took over 75 hours to prepare from the rock. The whole piece measures 110 cm long, 49 cm tall and 3 cm deep, and weighs 5.1 kg. The ichthyosaur itself measures 103 cm long. This replica is hand made from a strong lightweight plastic and backed with a plywood board. These replicas make fantastic display pieces that grace any wall space and create a unique focus.
Please note: these replicas are handmade to order, so take longer for delivery than our other products. Replicas will be dispatched around two weeks after ordering.
