A stunning example of an ammonite fossil of the species Psiloceras planorbis from North Somerset, UK.
The piece of limestone matrix measures 92 mm (3.65 inches) tall and contains three beautiful ammonites. The ammonites are well preserved and have been prepared out of the rock to reveal the shells, which display some beautiful iridescent colours that change as the angle the fossil is viewed from changes with a nice red sheen. The fossil weighs 180 grams and has a cut-flat base to allow it to stand freely for display. These ammonites make wonderful display items and are real conversation starters.
Around 200 million years old (Hettangian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
