A stunning example of a calcite ammonite fossil of the species Psiloceras planorbis from North Somerset, UK.

The piece of limestone matrix measures 110 mm (4.3 inches) wide and the fossil ammonite measures 75 mm across, which is large for this genus. The ammonite is well preserved and has been prepared out of the rock to reveal the whole shell and the matrix aesthetically shaped for display. The shell displays a pale cream/brown colour with a nice sheen and some subtle purple and green iridescence that appears when the shell is viewed from a certain angle. The fossil weighs 310 grams and has a cut flat base to allow it to stand freely for display.

Around 200 million years old (Hettangian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
