A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 65 mm (2.6 inches) across, which is a good size for this fossil type. The ammonite is very well preserved to the centre on both sides, which is unusual in these large pyrite ammonites. The suture lines are very deep and detailed on this one, as are the ribs. These are very popular ammonites and some of the most sought-after pyrite fossils in the world. It weighs 95 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
