A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Echioceras raricostatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 66 mm (2.6 inches) across with matrix, which is a good size for this species. The ammonite is well preserved on both sides. A great example of an uncommon species. This species is rarely found at this size in this condition. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
