A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 65 mm (2.52 inches) across, which is a good size for this species. The ammonite is very well preserved on both sides. The shell has nice detail in the suture lines and the metallic colour and shine is beautiful. A great example of the species. Incredible in the flesh. These ammonites are becoming much harder to find these days due to lack of erosion of the right layers of rock. The fossil weighs 72 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
