A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 90 mm (3.55 inches) across with matrix, which is a large size for this species. The ammonite is beautifully preserved on both sides of a pyrite matrix that is composed of the crushed outer whorl of the shell. A great example of the species that has nice suture lines and a lovely metallic colour and shine. These ammonites are becoming harder to find these days. This one is a real beauty. The fossil weighs 270 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
