A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 66 mm (2.6 inches) across with matrix which is large for this species. The suture lines are clearly visible and very striking. The ribs are well defined and some of the much sought after spines are still present, which is rare in these fossils. There is a likely predation bite in the outer whorl, which is not uncommon in ammonites from this location and would have been caused by a predator that killed the ammonite to eat the soft parts inside the shell. It has a wonderful golden colour and shine.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
