A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 97 mm (3.85 inches) across with matrix, which is huge for this fossil type and about as big as they get. The ammonite is well preserved on both sides with highly detailed suture lines. This species is rarely found at this size in good condition. These large examples are especially uncommon these days. It has been sealed with a removable varnish for protection.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
