A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 88 mm (3.5 inches) across, which is large for this species. The suture lines are clearly visible and very striking and the ribs are well defined. It has perfect centres on both sides. Part of the outer whorl is missing, which really makes the perfect centres of the shell stand out. It has a bronzy pyritic colour and shine. These are very popular ammonites but are becoming hard to find due to lack of erosion of the right layers in the cliffs. This is a very fine example and of a quality that is hard to come by these days.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
