A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 85 mm (3.36 inches) across with matrix which is large for this species. It is beautifully preserved, especially on one side. The suture lines are clearly visible and very striking and the detail in the ribs is very good. It has a lovely pyritic golden colour and shine. These ammonites are very hard to find these days due to lack of erosion in the correct layers of the cliffs, and they are getting very sought after
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection
