A stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) armatum from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.
The fossil measures 80 mm (3.16 inches) across, which is large for this species. The suture lines are clearly visible and very striking. The ribs are well defined and it has a wonderful golden colour and shine. There is a hole in the centre and a crack in the shell has been stabilised These are very popular ammonites but are becoming hard to find due to lack of erosion of the right layers in the cliffs. This one is a real beauty and as close to perfect as this species gets. The fossil weighs 200 grams.
Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
