A stunning example of two ichthyosaur vertebrae from the world-famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The two vertebrae sit in a pyrite matrix that measures 100 mm (3.95 inches) across with each bone being 52 mm, which is large for this fossil type. The bones are very well preserved and have been acid prepared. It has great detail in its preservation and a nice light buff colour, which is unusual for bones from this location. The neural and rib facets are perfectly preserved and detailed. These fossils were first found by pioneering Victorian fossils hunters like Mary Anning. Ichthyosaur bones are very popular fossils from this location. The piece weighs 575 grams.

Around 198 million years old (Sinemurian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
